Do you believe in Unicorns?

A skeptical question, often asked to ridicule another, of their faith in mythological creatures; and the so called “Idiot” would receive mockery and scorn, from an unbelieving crowd. But are they really just myths? Or is there more to it, than what it should be. And as Bible Believers should we to believe in them? We will find out through the course of this article.
Myth or Legend
History and its many marvels, tells us a lot about people having encountered a unicorn. In the middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Greeks (Not in there mythology but in accounts of natural history), the Indians, and even the Bible has records of this creature. But what really is a unicorn? Many as described it as a white horse, or goat like animal with long horns, thus the name Unicorn (Unus, single or one, cornu, Horn). If this creature truly is just a myth; why then do our history tell otherwise. Story does vary from country to country, but the inevitable is the creature is full of mystery. Though mysterious that does not account to myth; many people have feared to cursed platypus; and was thought, to be myth at first, till later discoveries. I say again mystery does not mean myth. And a thought to ponder any animal with a single horn, in the ancient world would have been identified as a Unicorn, figure that.
It’s in the Bible
The word unicorn is mentioned nine times, in the Bible. In Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, the noun Unicorn has three very different animals. First, the monocerus: A now rare species of Rhinoceros, Native only in the deep parts of South Africa. Second, The Narwal: Is a whale of some sort, remarkable for a horn growing out at his nose. Third, A fowl; an unknown bird, Renowned a single horn on its head; its fossil as claimed by the ancient is made into a medicine, a terrene crustaceous spar (Ps. 92:10). Now I used the 1828 Webster Dictionary, for the reason that it is closer to the definition used by the King James translators, in using the word “unicorn”.  And as we look at Scripture we could see that the Unicorn is a very well know creature of their time.
Job 39:9-10 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? God asked these questions to Job, to show how He is great power, and to teach Job a lesson. But this questions will not make any sense to Job, if he did not knew such an animal. The Bible even describes the animal’s behavior, it able to skip like calf (Ps. 29:6). It is fierce like bulls and bullocks (Isa. 34:7).It is also strong (Num. 23:22, 24:8). So when it comes to the Bible, Unicorns are true. And with close examination of the verses, we can see that majority of the verse pertaining to the Unicorn; all points to the monocerus. Rather contrary figure to the common image of the unknown. All we really could conclude is that these creatures exist; but not like we expect it to be. So if anyone asks you the question “Do you believe in unicorns?” answer them “I do, and you should too, here are the facts…” Now should we believe in Unicorn, a big YES. Because the Bible believes in them and should you.
