Valentine’s day, Heart’s day, Cupid’s day what ever it is called is an overly commercialize occasion (not a legal holiday in any country). A billion cards exchanged in a year, dozens and dozens of flowers sold for a time of love and romance.

What we do not know that Paganism is masquerading in this event. Cupid a widely know character but did you know that Cupid is a Roman god of desire and  erotic love (lust), attraction and affection. The chubby cute winged angel we see at commercials isn’t who he really is, the son of Venus ( Roman goddess of love) and Mars (Roman god of war) in Roman myths. Cupid is a deity which has the power to fill people with uncontrollable desires (Mainly lust). If your a Christian and you admire the chubby angel with heart point arrows you should think again. You will be promoting another god which procures people to fornicate and become infatuated with lust.

Lust is a problem for everyone, In James 1:15 (KJV)  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Lust very serious to God therefore we should take it seriously.

I know most people say Valentines is a celebration of love, but that is not what most people is doing. And if Christians is ever to celebrate love it should be everyday from the moment Christ saved them from Hell beneath. 1 John 4:19 (KJV)  We love him, because he first loved us.This is the greatest love (Jn. 15:13) to celebrate and not fleshly lust and romance as people tend to do.

I believe in celebrating love but only the love of Christ. The love worth of all my attention and more so. For those who do not have this love please do consider the love of Christ, trust him today as your Saviour and you will have the most fulfilling love any one can show. The love of Christ is the only love that makes me to love my enemies (Matt. 5:44), and love others more than myself. The love that is giving rather than taking, that is Christ’s love for the world (Jn.3:16).
